Fuck the history booksx

Translation: Never apologize for using the popular ‘state’s rights’ defense for your obvious racism, and fuck what actually happened because you like your white supremacist version of history better.

^Translation: I’m a dumb, neo-liberal reactionary that believes everything I read in books that were written by White people but also think everything White people do is racist.
I love how people say “the history books lie!” until it’s something that benefits them. The confederate flag isn’t and wasn’t about racism. It was about a lot more than that. Plantations were in the south but they were owned by the north. It was the north who profited from slavery even though it has been the south that has been branded racistpalooza. And this comes from a non-White person with a Confederate flag tattoo. Learn some actual history and stop believing every fucking thing you read in the history books. You are all gullible, and it’s quite pathetic that you can all be so easily led to believe a hundred year old lie. It’s easy to see how the government can get away with lying to us about reasons to go to war, fluoride, and AIDS when they can lie about something all you need to do to find the truth about is ask a non-White confederate the truth about the flag. Sheeple. All of you are sheeple.

If you believe I, a Puertorican man who comes from Black, White, and Taino bloodlines and is in a relationship with a White woman is racist, unfollow me now please. Thank you.

All I can really say about this is that I was raised in Virginia by Neo-Confederates and members of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and the Revival of the Southern Armies, and the pastor of the ‘church’ I grew up in is the owner of Sprinkle Publications, the largest publisher of reprinted Confederate literature in the world.
If I met you, you would be the first PoC Confederate I’d ever met. I’ve met thousands of Confederates, the great majority of which bring loaded guns to church because they believe that Muslims are trying to bomb every Christian church in America.
I’ve been around legitimately organized Confederates my entire life. I’ve never met one that wasn’t white, and they have never even tried to cover up the racism.
Like when they had white speakers at the ‘conferences’ who said that the enslaved PoC’s from the past and anybody descended from them should bend over and kiss the ground for the privilege of being able to live in America.
Or like when they had white speakers at the ‘conferences’ who pointed to slavery in the Bible and explained, from a historical perspective, how slavery was spiritually legal and therefore the Confederacy was justified in fighting a war over it.
They didn’t even hide it. It was right there, in a room filled with 700-800 people who were white and not one person who wasn’t.
I’m not calling you racist, and I’m not trying to speak for your experiences. But those are my experiences with what happens when modern Confederates get organized.

no worries, i’ll call him racist for you. it’s no wonder that he’s white-passing, of course.
keep on sucking the confederacy nutsack asshole

omg someone hold me im cringing so hard rn

I know I’m already late to this dumb fucking party, dumb…fucking…party, however I’d like to leap back a bit and point out some things about ‘states rights’ and the South, the confederacy…of dunces (oh sick burn).
Anyway, for a long while there I was doing research for an alternate history book, and in the process of covering the American history section between 1820 to 1900 I discovered just how completely rubbish this whole ‘states rights’ argument was. Basically for about twenty years prior to the war there was some serious teeth grating between the North and the South concerning the issue of slavery. Aside from the various abolitionist groups in the North there were also pressures from abroad, like Great Britain, who was really the benefactor of the South’s slaves.
You see the North was producing all kinds of useful commodities, and had its own cotton supplies, but Great Britain was the preeminent textile producer in the world at this point, and basically had a massive demand for the South’s cotton, twas Britain who paid for these plantations. Anyway, the desire of the South was to freely continue with their racist ass way of life in whatever state they chose, so as we expanded they could bring institutionalized slavery with them. Because much of the North disagreed on this point we see the growing fights in government over whether new states would be free or slave.
The South turned this into a pissing match where the debate was framed as ‘if they tell us we can’t have slaves, then they’ll tell us soon that slaves are equal to us, or that we’re all some made up religion that isn’t Christianity, or they’ll make us shop at Sears! Where will the Federal governments demands of us end? FUCKIN’ WHERE!?’ When really each of these arguments begins and ends at one spot, slavery, it wasn’t that the Federal government was threatening them with control over every aspect of their lives, it was threatening a racist and immoral institution and the South didn’t want to have to accept this.
Another great bit are things like the cotton gin, and various machines, which had been intended to kill off the need for slaves, the desire of many of these inventors was to make machines that would eliminate the need to continue this practice, but instead the south used them to redouble their production and expand operations, so slavery flourished in an environment that was necessarily friendly to it.
Finally, Lincoln, old father Abraham, gets elected, and states start seceding. Why? Not because he was making the country socialist, it was because he was an abolitionist, and the expectation was that he would force the issue of slavery during his presidency. Before he is even sworn in we have states seceding, when he finally gives his presidential address the rest of the South goes right out the door, and as I mentioned before, it wasn’t because he was trying to make everyone buy the same buggy, or enact healthcare reform (or any other bullshit the modern states rights assholes lament), it was because he threatened slavery.
So the south, noble in its own mind, idiotic in its practice, deplorable in its belief that it’s honorable marching a few million men off to fight and die for nothing in a battle they could never win. Ass…holes…all of them.
