I believe Mr. Wiseau is the soul of modern humor. His unique, bold…awe inspiring even, directorial style presents us with a frame through which to address our fears, motivations, desires. The canvas of film which Mr. Wiseau uses is the world, and we, the philistine viewer, are the paints and utensils he uses to perfect this image of life, this inverse of all that we hold dear. He challenges our way of thinking and asks us to come with him a step further into enlightenment. He is an American cinematic God, and we are fit now only worship at his feet. There will be a time, no doubt within the next fifty years as film devolves into a game of remake and rehash that The Room, and the House That Dripped Blood on Alex will be seen in the finest venues, a testament to this mans greatness. Just as Nixon, high on the power of the film Patton, bombed Cambodia, we may only hope that this man makes the film that encourages our future Republican president to, in a fit of religious ecstasy, bomb a small country that has no ability to stop us, but is rich in natural resources…probably rare earth minerals I’d suppose.

The existential quandary that elderly pug brings the viewer is the crises which fixes all of us, it is impossible to not weep at this scene, as Wiseau’s Homeric hero Johnny, acknowledges our aged and emotionally withered existence and says hello. He sees us, so we may see ourselves. Perhaps if society stopped and said ‘Hai, doggie’ to itself we could reach enlightenment in our lifetime.
