Womens hair styles in the late 17th century reflected a move towards murderous rage directed towards offspring and nature. It was common to see a well to do women during this period festoon their hair with dead children (slide A) and exotic birds maimed by their follicles (slide B). These styles quickly died out however when the patriarchy realized that ‘shit had just gotten real.’ (Louis XIV, Versailles, 1670)
